Timothy Schwertfeger is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nuveen Investments, a 108-year-old firm managing $119 billion in assets. He is the founder of The Chicago Scholars Foundation and the co-founder of the Ariel Nuveen Investment Program, which teaches children hands-on investment skills. Mr. Schwertfeger was a member of the Board of Directors of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Field Museum. He also serves on the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, the Board of Trustees of the Chicago Public Education Fund, Chicago United, Leadership for Quality Education, the Governing Board of the Illinois Council on Economic Education, the CEO Advisory Council of the Associated Colleges of Illinois, and the Business Advisory Board for the Chicago Public Schools Finance Academies. He holds a B.A. degree in economics and finance from Northwestern University and a J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center. In addition, he has attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and the Humanities Program of Stanford University. Mr. Schwertfeger and his wife, Gail Waller, have one child and live in Chicago.
