A founding member of the Broadscale team, Ben Rogers brings deep experience to Broadscale’s collaborations in the power and utility industry. He has worked for over 16 years in the energy and utility sectors (regulated and merchant) and has been an investment banker advising utilities and alternative energy companies on M&A, financing, strategy, and business development. He has experience in energy efficiency, power-related asset management, energy storage, poly-silicon production, wind and solar generation, and water and coal remediation.
Most recently Mr. Rogers has held several key senior management positions with energy start-up companies in energy storage (President of Eos Energy Storage) and energy efficiency (Chief Business Officer of ThinkEco Inc). Mr. Rogers was previously a Vice President with Goldman Sachs & Co., working in the Global Natural Resources Group within the Investment Banking Division. While at Goldman, his responsibilities included both an execution role and the coverage of regulated utilities, merchant power assets and alternative energy companies. Mr. Rogers’ alternative energy areas of focus included renewable energy (wind and solar) and smart grid technologies.
Before joining Goldman, Mr. Rogers worked for several years at Cinergy Corp., now part of Duke Energy. While at Cinergy, he worked in various groups including the Power Trading Group focused on trading in the Northeast markets, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Corporate Development. Before joining Cinergy, he worked for five years at Enron Corp. in Houston. While at Enron, Mr. Rogers worked in various power and natural gas related roles within Enron Capital and Trade (ECT). His areas of focus included power plant development, power and natural gas origination and structuring, power trading, and corporate development.
Mr. Rogers received a BA in Economics from The Catholic University of America and an MBA from The University of Chicago
